Was this worth it? How will you be affected?
One of the world’s largest file-sharing sites was shut down Thursday, and its founder and several company executives were charged with violating piracy laws, federal prosecutors said.
An indictment accuses Megaupload.com of costing copyright holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated films and other content. The indictment was unsealed one day after websites including Wikipedia and Craigslist shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to thwart online piracy.
Was this worth it? How will you be affected?

Going to take a lot of heat for this, but about damn time. This site (mega upload), and all sites similar to it, need to be permanently taken off the web.
To answer the OP's questions: Was it worth it? Definitely. How will you be affected? Not at all.

But in all seriousness, of course people aren't going to like it. Whenever you take away something FREE from someone, they are bound to complain; I can cite many real world references for that point. Simply enough, stealing is stealing, whether it be physically (holding up a store at gun point), or through the internet by pirating it online; all the same (minus the emotional drama the store clerk would go through).

Looks like Anonymous attacked the FBI Justice Department shortly after Mega Upload was taken down.
Not like they didn't see that coming or anything, guess they shouldn't piss off the entire goddamned internet next time.

Anonymous is a group of cowards fighting a battle with the whole "Steal from the rich, give to the poor" facade.
A site which willingly and knowingly makes a mockery of law should be taken down.
