Battlefield 2143: Coming Soon?

I really hope the only one of those that comes true would be BF2143. I seem to recall Medal of Honor getting fairly poor reviews, with critics saying that the best part was the multiplayer, which was supposedly just like BC2's (I already had BC2). As for Bad Company 3, I have Bad Company 2 and like it, but unless they actually do something worthwhile, it's just going to be another shooter in an already way over-saturated market. And as for Mirror's Edge 2, I thought Mirror's Edge was pretty shoddy. Enemies could detect you through any surface, the gun-play was incredibly bare-bones (despite the fact that they should have easily been able to put aiming down the sites in there as well. The graphics for the environments were okay. The Xbox magazine said the graphics had "stark contrasts". I just call it endless bland white buildings and occasional colored buildings to hint at where to go. On that note, the parkour was fun, but it never got going for too long for me. Either there was a big stop in the action to solve some where-to-go-next puzzle, due to repeated deaths at a difficult jump, or worst of all, due to having to fight enemies. The gun-play, as I already said, was worthless, and the melee combat was way too repetitive. And of course, the game was only about three or four hours long, featuring stupid cartoon cutscenes, and not a ton of interesting plot. No multiplayer on a game that flawed and small is just the final straw.

BF2143 on the other hand could be fun. I actually have BF2142 sitting around here somewhere, and this topic makes me want to install it. It had never worked too great on my old computer, and I never really got the hang of it, but my new computer will run it like clockwork and now I'm a bit older and more experienced so I should be able to learn it. Anyway, BF2143 might be another shooter, but at least it would bring a fresh environment, a plot that maybe doesn't involve terrorists or war with Russia/China, and unique weapons and vehicles. If all the guns are just fake future guns, nobody will have that pretentious "I don't have any guns but I know a whole lot about them, particularly their full names" vibe. I just hope they change up the game mechanics a little. I've never liked the aim down the sight mechanic. You don't have to press a gun to your nose to fire it accurately, and you don't "fire from the hip". They should call it "fire from the shoulder, IE not very far from your eyes. You could just as easily run and fire while aiming down the sights as you could run and fire from the shoulder, as they're practically the same thing. And sniper rifles don't suddenly become muskets when you aren't looking through the scope, they generally still fire in the direction that they're pointed. I just don't like that you have to move at a mile per hour, severely restricting your line of sight as well, to shoot accurately. The other option is to use grenades or the "spray and pray" method. It's just never been very fun for me. But hopefully BF2143 can come up with a fun system, a good premise for multiplayer/plot for singleplayer, and some cool stuff unique to it's future setting, IE mechs.
