Music and Talk
As taking a break from the recent political new, I would like to ask you all for a free ranged talk about music. Yes people talk about it all the time but I wish to talk about and possibly find bands that i have yet to hear, recently I found Marcy Playground and re-discovered Sound-garden. So please give me an idea of your own personal "chill out" music, what you listen to when upset, happy, or just plain bored... yay insomnia

I think he is trying to point out a topic like this already exists, and that this would be a duplicate topic.
Although, that topic is nearing capacity, so i'll keep this one open.

2000, right as the 90's ended. IMO some of the best music came from around then.

Re: Music and Talk
Does the Music Flame War topic really constitute talking about music? It really seems like people just go there to post a link to some song they listened to. There doesn't seem to be any discussion going on. I don't like very much music, but I'll try to give an example.
I can't stand "dubstep". I don't even think it's worthy of being an entire class of music. It should be merged with electro or something, just a bunch of synthesized garbage. BOM-BOM-BOM-BOM goooo-eh-eh-eh-eh wiiiiiiiiiiii BOM-BOM-BOM-BOM quuuuuu go-eh-eh-eh-eh BOM-BOM-BOM-BOM does not sound like music to me. I could care less how many times the bass thing bumps, it's repetitive synthesized garbage that any talentless clown could make.
And I'm not particularly impressed by the random and senseless jerking method of "dance" that accompanies it either.

My whole life is music.
A lot of people have this problem that they are pretty ignorant when it comes to music. And its a terrible thing really. People see a genre of music as bad mostly because they don't actually give it the time of day, or heard one song and made a couple of rash judgements. There's so much good music out there, shit you never even heard that its a complete shame to not try it all out. I truly believe that when I die, the greatest shame will be that I will be missing out on all the music after my death.
I don't know how I got into that, I think it was because Sleepy was talking about how he thinks dubstep is just all WOMPWOMPWOMP. For the record also, my friend tries to write dubstep so I have a tiny bit of incite to the process, and its hard as fuck. It's not like you can pick up an instrument and just play something you think sounds nice. Its all digital controls that you have to mess with just get a certain note and sound. Pretty tough. I imagine that it gets easier as you beat the learning curve but still, I think some of it should be respected.

Yea unfortunate how it is I say things like I hate rap and whatever pop is now becasue peoples perception into the idea is limited to the last few years, I dont like the new stuff but I like Snoop Dogg, Dre, Biggie smalls, the older guys you know? But i cant say that cause then im dubbed as an idiot with no taste in music. I do like SOME new stuff if im in the mood for it but not like all these people who are die hard fans.
And I know some people who corrdinate dance with dubb step, THAT is hard

I had the courtesy to describe the exact "rhythm" of the various WOMP's and grinding noises in detail!
But in any case, I could probably find the one I was referring to. I'm pretty sure my memory of it is good, it should sound like what I typed above.
