I run many engineering simulator programs that can usually only run at office computers. They eat ur RAM for breakfast. Nuff said (although I probably coulda gotten away with 16, but it would be close).

Autocad? Also there are plenty of measures you can take to reduce RAM. Even still, RAM is cheap and a mother board with 32GB capability isn't too expensive so I can't really criticize you on that. If you said you had 3 HDD and they were each SSDs...

Is autocad ass? That is the only engineering program I know of that would need a server just to run.

Well Mr. 32GB of RAM how about YOU enlighten us on what programs you're running on your laptop that your company probably bought for you, if you even have one, and stop acting like such a pompous headed jackass?

Fucking Christ.

It's tough to say, you cant get the program anywhere, it requires a license to operate that (as far as I know) costs thousands. I think it is probably most similar to ANSYS11, but more complex. It's something that you need to just see rather than explain (although I can't do that).

@Slacker - Nice.

EDIT: @Jag - Wth is your problem?

I have a licensing key for some really expensive 3d modeling program and well as CS5 professional. I didn't pay anything for it. The internet and keygen did. Regardless, what are you constructing that requires such a program?

Well it isn't just modelling, it is simulated scenarios also. And it is used for (me at least) designing / analyzing components of structures to determine critical failure points under given and unknown loading conditions; mainly for bridges and buildings, among other things. Sorry if it is still unclear, but i can't go any further.

I would be willing to bet money that you do not need 32GBs of RAM. Nice to have I'm sure though.

Eaustinn is a super secret engineering agent who uses a top secret engineering program that uses an absolute metric ton of RAM, and a 10000 laptop.

He plays solitaire and minesweeper on his computer in his free time.
