Travel The World!

For a while now I've been wanting to get out of philly, travel the world, and admire the sights that you could never truely experience simply by googling it on the computer, but I run into a slight problem with this desire: My wallet. I have no idea how much I would need to save up for such a journey, so I was wondering if you guys could give me some opinions. How much would you say it'd cost to travel the world? I intend to spend at least a week to a month in different places around the world and sticking to buying the basics: 2-3 meals a day, maybe a trinket from a gift shop, any attractions the place may have (rock climbing, skiing, etc) and a hotel room. I never really travelled before so I'm also open to some advice from those of you who have as well!

The summer after senior year me and 4 friends went on a trip to Europe. We we went to Italy, and rented a car from there and traveled to neighboring countries. The plane ticket itself cost 900 each, and for other expenses and fun we spent another 2500 +. A year's worth of savings from work went on that trip, so its not cheap.

Travel the world as in hit 190+ countries? And spend weeks to a month? Well, you'd be talking well over $50,000 although the actually cost may dramatically vary.

I'd personally just stick to Europe.

Go to Germany, rent car, drive all over Europe.

Not ALL of the countries, just most of Europe and Australia to narrow it down, maybe even Greece

Been interested in doing a trip through europe like andrew. Sounds like a good estimate. Around 3000.

If you wanted do it for cheaper im sure you could bum it out across europe. I wanted to do that. Like Backpacking.

We spent a lot more then we NEEDED to though, it depends on what you want to do in these countries. Just traveling and sight-seeing will be cheaper

If you went backpacking, everyone that saw you would think your the dirtiest rat in the world.

I've considered backpacking, but I'd rather just save up the best I can for these trips, mostly because I'm a lazy prick xD I would probably backpack on some occasions, but it strictly depends on where i'm going.

i dont mean to put you off or anything but only travel to countries worth traveling

Dont bother with britain its a shit hole unless your going to do it around the time the olympics are on cuz we would have straightened up by then

I went to Italy on a school trip for one week and although it was short time and i got major discounts for being on a student program, it still costed about $1500 for all the touristy shit and a decent hotel and that is including the $200 on fucking souveneirs.
I would suggest Hostiles, they keep 18 year olds in one huge room for a few $ a night like really only $15 (i think) and they give you some breakfeast in the mornin, they are spread all over west europe

Always wanted to go to the UK for a bit when im older. Not really sure why. Just always wanted to.

Hell no. Backpacking would be awesome. I would love to live as a bum for a week or two.

I'm planning on taking a trip to London during the summer.

My advice, check certain sites and look for deals on plane tickets and such. You wouldn't believe how much you can save on the initial price.
