Wasteland Odyssey (OOC and Signup)
Welcome to Wasteland Odyssey, an RP based in the Capitol Wastes, and the surrounding areas. The influences are felt from all the Fallout games, so all equipment is available to be found.
The Scenario: What if the Lone Wanderer disarmed the bomb in Megaton, but was killed at Super-Duper Mart in the early stages of the Wilderness Survival Guide research?
The PCs will be part of a group gather by the GM(Golan Rovanel) toaccomplish certain goals; the group will also have the option of undertaking core game scenarios ‘on the side. The personalities and politics of NPCs/Factions will try to be as true as possible, with minor tweaks to assist in continue the story.
PCs will be allowed to be a Wastelander, a Vaulter, or even a Ghoul.
The plot will be player-driven and true to the F3 ‘sandbox’ pattern of fulfilling quests and the ability to complete personal agendas and other quests in between "main story missions".
The GM's posts will include the current date, and standing with groups and factions as they come into contact with them.
The game will start in Megaton.

- "Advancement and Abilities":
- A character will level up after getting 40 Honor. 10 Honor is awarded for posting, and additional honor can be gained by making innovative ideas, having high quality posts, etc.
Each PC will start with 3 perks from their background and two bonus perks. You gain 1 perk per level up. Each PC will start at Level 1.
- "PC Backgrounds":
- Wastelander: The PC was born & raised in the Wasteland. He or she will know the basic political structure, creatures, conditions, etc. Starts with Spray & Pray, Melee Weapons, Survival.
Vault-dweller: The PC was born & raised in an underground complex known as a Vault; Vaulters usually slipped out or were expelled; due to very finite resources and space strict conformity and behavior are enforced within a Vault. Vaulters have little or no understanding of Wasteland conditions. They do have PipBoy 2000s,wrist-mounted computers which include a reading light, AM/FM radio, and word processing. Starts with Spray & Pray, Science, Computer Whiz.
Ghoul: The PC was born a Wastelander, but prolonged exposure to radiation and toxic wastes has resulted in the PC becoming a ghoul. Ghouls do not eat Human flesh; they are physically weaker and more delicate than normal Humans, and their surface tissues are cracked, peeling, and scarred, making them look like an extra in a horror movie. Ghouls cannot use heavy weapons or heavy melee weapons. In human cultures Ghouls are treated as second-class citizens at best. The Enclave shoots them on sight, and the BoS ignores them. Starts with Spray & Pray, Survival, and Radiation Healing. Ghouls have natural low-light vision, but must wear sunglasses or similar protection in sunlight.
- "Perks":
- Just a beginning list, if you have a perk from Fallout that you wish to be included, please message me first. Also some I am holding off until a later time in the RP.
Barter: The PC is skilled at haggling. This will not overcome racial/political bias.
Big Guns: The PC is can use heavy weapons (belt-fed weapons, rocket-propelled grenade launcher, anti-material rifle, recoilless rifles, vehicle-mounted weapons) with above-average accuracy.
Chem resistant: The PC can employ combat chems such asd Jet, Buffout, ands the like with much less chance of addiction.
Chunker: The PC is above average with hand-thrown grenades and similar thrown expolsive charges.
Computer Whiz: (requires Science) The PC is an accomplished hacker, computer user, and can repair computers.
Cowboy: The PC is a better-than-average shot with revolvers and lever-action weapons.
Demotion Expert: The PC can employ dynamite, C-4, and other explosives to do demolitions work.
Driver: The PC can driver a motor vehicle. If he has Repair skill, he or she can maintain it as well.
Energy Weapons: The PC is a better-than-average shot with energy weapons (lasers, plasma).
Gun Nut: The PC is a better-than-average shot with rifles, shotguns, and sub-machineguns.
Gunslinger: The PC is a better-than-average shot with handguns at 75 feet or less.
Lead Belly: the PC can drink irradiated water or water contaminated with chemical wastes without ill-effects.
Lockpick: Picking mechanical locks, requires tools.
Medicine: Medical treatment skills. Requires an EMT Kit or Doctor’s bag.
Melee Weapons: The PC is a better-than-average with melee weapons.
Point man: The PC is skilled in spotting, disarming, or setting booby traps and mines.
Rad resistance: The PC is highly resistance to background radiation.
Repair: The PC can, with tools, parts, and time, repair/maintain mechanical devices, including armor and weapons.
Robotics: (requires Science and Repair) The PC can repair robots.
Science: (costs two Perks, may be purchased in two stages with level increases) The PC has a breoad understanding of scientific theory. May pick electronic locks with the proper tools.
Scrounger: The PC is adept at searching bodies and containers for loot.
Sneak: The PC can move quietly and make good use of terrain. This is not invisibility, and cannot counter light sources, noisy gear, or heavy armor.
Sniper: (Requires Gun Nut) The PC is a better-than-average shot with scoped or sniper rifles, firing at 200’ or longer range with a spotter.
Spray & Pray: The PC knows how to operate weapons, but his or her accuracy is a bit below average.
Speech: The gift of gab & the con artist. The PC is a good speaker. This is not a charm spell-the player would have to come up with a plausible argument/approach/con in OOC.
Survival: (costs two Perks, may be purchased in two stages with level increases) Knowledge of Wasteland conditions, dangers, risks, and survival techniques.
Unarmed: The PC knows how to fight effectively unarmed. PCs who plan to be an unarmed warrior won’t last long.
Wasteland Explorer: (requires Survival) The PC can combine harvested bits and common items to make useful compounds (Higher Chance of getting something useful, and the ability to create higher quality items)

Background: (which of the three you are).
Level: 1st (everyone starts at 1)
Description: What your PC looks like.
Backstory & Personality: What you do, what you have done, what you are like.
S.P.E.C.I.A.L: Build the general person you are. You have 40 points to allocate in each skill, with a max of ten in each, and a minimum of 1.
Strength: How strong you are, determines how much gear you can carry, and assists in the use of unarmed and Melee skills.
Perception: The ability to see, hear, taste and notice unusual things. A high Perception is important for a sharpshooter.
Endurance: Stamina and physical toughness. A character with a high Endurance will survive where others may not.
Charisma: A combination of appearance and charm. A high Charisma is important for characters that want to influence people with words.
Intelligence: Knowledge, wisdom and the ability to think quickly. A high Intelligence is important for any character.
Agility: Coordination and the ability to move well. A high Agility is important for any active character
Luck:Fate. Karma. An extremely high or low Luck will affect the character - somehow. Events and situations will be changed by how lucky (or unlucky) your character is.
Perks:
Equipment: Keep it in line with being first level. Leather armor or Vault security armor, etc.
Wish list: Stuff your PC would like to get. This can be changed at any time by posting in OOC. This lets me know what loot to put out there. For example, if you eventually want heavy armor, a 5.56mm Squad Automatic Weapon, and Night Vision goggles, put it down. Naturally, you will likely go through various stages (medium armor, assault rifle) before reaching it.
Personal goals: (optional) If your PC has long-term plans, list it here or in the Backstory. If I know what it is, I may be able to work it into the plot.
- "Rules":
- 1) What the GM(I) say goes.
2) When looting, don't say what you found, as I will tell you in a PM. Unless of course it is obvious, such as looting a Nuka Cola machine would net you some Nuka Cola
3) I will decide what PCs are acceptable for this game, and as of right now I don't have a cap, but I will expect all PCs to be balanced and not Mary Sues.
4) No God-Modding
5) All PCs start at Level 1 with basic equipment.
6) Please direct any twists in the plot to me for approval first.
7) Stay active or fear the wrath of death. If Life happens, please say so in this OOC thread and make arrangements with someone to either take care of your character, or I can make some reason for you being incapacitated. I would prefer the first one, instead of having to lug around a comatose body for months on end.
Killing enemies is up to the player. But keep it in reason. Your character shouldn't be running up to a Super Mutant and killing it with a .32 Revolver and Spray and Pray Perk.

Oh, fucking HELL! I just made a whole character but accidentally hit the back button on my mouse and now have to do it all over again. I tried my best not to overdo anything or give my character a leg up. I just made my character the way I'd make him if this were a video game.

Background: Vault-Dweller
Level: 1st
Description: Pretty normal looking. Caucasian/5'9"/Average build/Hazel Eye color/Short, blonde hair/Short, subtle and stately looking mustache, that's almost translucent due to hair color. Based entirely in reality. (I can try to add more if this isn't enough yet)
Back story & Personality: Was training to be a doctor in the vault. Obsessed with cleanliness and order. Hates germs, but isn't squeamish. Tries to be polite and friendly to everyone, and is quick to feel guilty over any wrongdoing. His job required him to be skilled in the use of computers (Why I have the back round perks). Was selected to go on an expedition outside of the vault, but carelessly wandered off to collect a water sample, and returned to where the group was last to find evidence of an attack. Upon returning to the vault, it was sealed (The only way I could come up with why I would be outside the vault).

I'd also like to have the doctor's bag, as it will make medicine actually useful, but I'd understand if you can't give it to me, as it seems like it wouldn't be starting equipment. I'd rationalize that by saying a doctor going on an expedition would probably take a bag of doctor's supplies)
Wish list: Laser Rifle (Haven't played the game in a while, I think it was called this), quality light armor that can be worn underneath the doctor's coat. Doctor's bag. Various doctor's supplies. Deed to a clinic.
Personal goals: Make the Wasteland cleaner and healthier. Exterminate radroaches due to an overwhelming fear of roaches (though they are less scary when they aren't tiny and fast as hell). Find out what's wrong with the super mutants, and if it can be fixed. Start a clinic.

Doctor bags and a few stimpaks would be basic equipment for a medic type person. I would prefer like a med "Student" instead of a doctor, because you are only level one after all.
The Only Problem I have with your character is the description. You need to paint a picture in the reader's head so that they know what your character looks like.

Backstory & Personality: Born in 2047, Samuel was one of the unlucky inhabitants of Vault 12, the door of which never fully sealed, flooding the vault with radiation and either killing or ghoulifying the population. He helped to build the settlement of Necropolis, and founded a small repair shop, where he would fix anything from firearms to the rare functioning automobile. But when the town was attacked by the Master's army in 2162, Samuel fled East into the wastes, hoping to find somewhere he could belong. After wandering for more than a century (I'm working on a more in depth story for that century), he happened across the town of Megaton, a settlement built in the crater of a disarmed nuclear bomb. Alright, I had "training" (implying student) in there anyway.
And I guess I'll describe myself more, though I figured the mustache was all you needed to know about.
What about the other starting equipment? The only reason I even listed a 10mm Pistol was because I figured it would be wise to start with a weapon, but I'd be fine starting unarmed, as I assume I'll quickly group up with some more heavily armed players.

Description: The Prisoner stands at about 6'6".
Backstory & Personality: Golan was born and raised in the Vault-Tec Tibbets Prison. Below the Prison area was a vault and when the Vault Dwellers wandered out of it, the vault shut itself and were forced into a prison camp by the AI Warden ULYSSEUS, and his robo-guards. After escaping the prison and stopping the spread of the New Plaque, Rovanel began to journey the wastelands to find more adventure. Constant lack of sleep has made him able to gain a full rest with 3 hours of sleep.
Golan was hired assemble a group in order to explore and salvage across the Wasteland. He was hired through a proxy, and has no clue who the patrons are, his only request being that his group not meddle in the politics of the Enclave and the Brotherhood.
Golan is aligned with Neutral Good. A man of few words, he carefully considers every outcome before making a move. When he does speak, it is with confidence, and can be quite persuasive.

Just out of curiosity, how many people do you think are going to be in the group in total? I'd imagine at the very least we need a sniper guy and another soldier guy, but I kind of hope there are more. This sounds like it could be fun.

Description: Stands at 6"6, Athletic build, alert posture and skin is considered attractive by Ghoul standards.
Backstory and personality: Born in 2058, Marcus was one of the unlucky souls to be accepted into vault 12, which never closed, causing the entire vault population to either die or become ghouls. Unfortunately for Marcus, the heat from the nukes caused his pipboy to short cicruit. He tried defending his home agains the master's attack in 2162, but ended up being drafted into the master's army, later deserting. Before his kidnapping from the Necropolis previously known as vault 12 he worked in the Armoury, testing and reparing weapons for the security force. Marcus can be very insensitive, sarcastic and cynical often coming across as an asshole.

Description: 6'3, Blocky but chiseled build , long slender limbs, thick hair reaches jaw, regularily shaves due to facial hair unable to grow on severe scar (missing fraction of cheek.)
BackStory: Dante, during 2241 May 6th, was birthed, and only 9 days after his birth, The Enclave sent a "Leaving the Vault" tutorial video to Vault 13, the day after, Enclave greeted the vault with two squads and two vertiberds with civility. Dante's father and mother, who resisted arrest with a senior, were brought out of sight and executed, Dante never knew the wiser, and was brought onto the two vertiberds, wrapped in a blanket, kidnapped with other dwellers that were "appropriate for action", seniors and the sick were left behind.
2242, Feb 23th, Dante is lined up with new parents, Lieutenant Ryan Greenburg and Medical Officer Sasha Jenkins.
2254, May 6th.
Dante has his 14th birthday, and celebrates with his parents.The day after, he is shown how to handle The Enclave's energy weapons, but by preference shot a BAR Rifle and a 45.Pistol, and became the youngest Hybrid Enclave Soldier.
2258, Aug 13th.
Dante, practicing with computers, and becoming distant with his parents, decided to hack into the Enclave's mainframe, even though a bad decision, he downloaded information logs from 2239 to 2245, but was caught shortly after by a tech officer, who then shortly after arrived at Dante's quarters, and told him to un-plug "before he was caught by someone with a conscience", Dante did not understand what he meant until Aug 23rd.
2258 Aug 23rd.
Dante finds his true self from reading the logs, but does not show it among expressions, he plans his escape.
2260 Oct 27th.
Enclave officers decide Dante is ready for action.
2260 Oct 28th.
Dante sets out on a patrol with 4 other soldiers, only one other recruit with them, Dante was deciding when to run, when to escape.They arrive at a far away gas station to test Dante's, and the recruit's, Harrison Bigsty's scavenging skills, little did they know, this was a trail frequently patrolled by the BOS.Dante and Harrison showed excellent scavenging skills, and recovered roughly 8 pounds of supplies.Dante and the squad heard ambient gunfire, but decided that approaching the source was too dangerous for recruits that were only equipped with recruit equipment, that decision led to an ambush, Dante had only a fraction of a second to react, in which saved his life, a 308. round nearly tore off Dante's entire cheek, and which the shock sent him into a spiral, his body hitting some stable objects, knocking him unconscious.
2260 Oct 28th.
Dante wakes up on a medical bedding, strapped in. His face paining, when his vision un-blurs, once blurry figures, appear to be BOS soldiers, more soldiers and scribes rush into the room, unstrapping him, then handcuffing him.Dante is escorted into a dark room, and interrogated, thoroughly.Dante confesses his entire knowledge.He is then thrown into a cell, where he will spend a fraction of his life, attending his wound, and progressively gaining more hatred for the Enclave.
2262 July 6th.
BOS scribes decide, after Dante being a prisoner for so long, and them knowing his hatred for the Enclave, for what they did to him, to convert him into a BOS member, returning his faithful 45.
2262 August 19th.
Dante has learned the BOS ways thoroughly, and serves them for the next 11 years, gaining knowledge, medals, and age.
2273 January 4th.
Dante leaves the BOS, a ceremony is held, gifts are exchanged.
