Rise of The Planet of The Apes
Hey guys, so me and my friends saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes tonight. I'm sure most of you have heard by now that its a good movie, so I'm just here to back that up.
I've seen the original series, so when I saw the trailer for this I thought it was ridiculous. I remember saying out loud to my friend that it looked stupid and I would never see it. Well enough people said it was good so I decided to check it out and holy crap it was damn good.
First off, the apes look amazing. I had completely forgot that they were computer generated throughout the movie. The apes are the biggest characters in the movie, and definitely out act James Franco and the rest of the cast. The main group of apes that you may recognize from the original series are developed very well as characters (for computer generated animals that can't talk at least.)
So the apes look awfully real, and turn out to be extremely smart. In fact one scene with a particularly intelligent ape had everyone in the theater shocked, and is one of the best parts in the movie. But no matter how real and smart an ape seems, I have no doubt in my mind that they could NEVER take over the earth. Well I completely take that back. The scenario is introduced in a very believable way and I am very happy with how they handled it.
So yea, Rise of The Planet of the Apes, go see it, great movie.
Edit: If you have seen the movie, my favorite part is...

- Spoiler:
- When Malfoy the cruel animal control worker is fighting Cesar. Cesar manages to grab his arm, and Malfoy yells "Get your stinking paw off me you damn dirty ape," in reference to the original Planet of the Apes. Out of nowhere Cesar fucking screams in the most brutal sounding voice ever "NO" and whips his ass. Literally me and everybody in the theater jumped the hell out of our seats in shock when that happened. Nobody expected him to talk and it was amazing.

Re: Rise of The Planet of The Apes
More like it's presented in a deceiving way and there's no way a bunch of apes could take over the Earth.
But it's just a movie, the director did well then and I might see it, it looks good.

I was under the impression that this was a reboot of the series and didn't really fit in to the chronology of the original series. I think a few apes share names as callbacks to the originals,

I'm pretty sure they are the very same apes. I mean, despite having the same names they are also the same species and look the same.
The movie fits perfectly as a prequel to the entire series.
