Explosions in Oslow Norway?

Post  DeadApe on 22nd July 2011, 11:25 am

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/07/22/norway.explosion/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

Apparently there were several explosions in government buildings this morning. Nobody seems to know what the cause was, but I think its assumed to be some sort of terror plot?

Update: 1 dead, several injured. It is possible it was a carbomb.

Was just watching more on it on CNN.

Apparently, right after the bombing, someone shot up a Norway youth camp; police believe the incidents are connected.

Another concern (typing this as im listening to CNN right now) is that it ISNT OVER. Police believe more bombs are present, that didn't go off yet.

Another thing (on a somewhat bright side): Police believe this plot was done by a Norway nationalist, rather than an ME terrorist group, so it isn't an international situation.

Oh, and my TV screen says 7 DEAD now, so I think a death toll is climbing.

EDIT: And there is NO WAY that was a car bomb; the blast was huge and took out a few major govt buildings.

I also find it funny how CNN is covering this extensively (and MSNBC), while FOX NEWS (just checked) is talking about Pres Obamas approval rating.

Can someone explain whats going on with that shooting? I am reading it on CNN and they aren't being very clear about whats going on. Is that shooting still going on?

lolz. What's HLN covering? Casey Anthony? I was watching earlier and they (Fox) covered Oslow for about 5 minutes.

To their defence this isn't the only thing happening today.

I think they recently went behind CNN which is top. They dominated ratings for years. I know that MSNBC is behind them though.
(I watch both CNN and Fox)

I dont understand how Fox can be ahead in news ratings considering they aren't even a credible news network anymore (since around 2008). Honestly, now, they are more bias and manipulative than a news station in the Soviet Union.

If you're talking about Hannity and O'Reilly or Glenn Beck (he had his show pulled recently), they're an opinion based show. What I watch (Mainly Chris Wallace and Bret Baire, sometimes others) are legitimate professional journalists who always give a liberal view and a conservative view in the discussions, sometimes from Independent and Libertarian views as well. Not from themselves ostensibly, but from the guests.

America's News HQ is also fair, I usually switch between it and Anderson 360.

I find MSNBC though to be extremely left-wing. I can't even watch it, it just annoys me.

O'Reilly on the other hand, I find when he's right, he's right. But he gets this God complex since his show in #1 in cable news that everything revolves around him. That annoys the fuck out of me, and I think he's an idiot. But when he's right he nails it imo.

Back on topic: Some are saying Nationalists, some Muslim organizations, it's all really up in the air right now, nothing set in stone.

I agree (well minus the annoying part; they may be bias but they make really good points that are very true).

However, while MSNBC is left, Fox is far more right. Ill give Fox credit though in pulling Glenn Beck, but that is not the reason I think they are bias; it is the stories they choose, how they take them out of context, and put a 'make liberals look bad" spin on them. They do a really good and subtle job doing it too.

I'd say as of right now, if there was a scale from -10 to 10 (-10 being far left, 0 balanced, and 10 right)...

MSNBC = -6

CNN = -1

Fox = 9

I will say though that the non-cable stations (local news stations) are the least bias of them all.

Everyone gets their moments of truth. MSNBC isn't excluded.

On my scale
MSNBC: -8
CNN: -1 (Agreed)
FN: 5

I agree that local news stations are pretty fair, I still have to defend Fox though to the fact that when I compare and contrast to CNN, it's the same stories, different guests. It does cater to center-right views particularly, I won't doubt that because it's true.

Like I stated, my personal favorites on Fox are Chris Wallace and Bret Baire (Brit Hume when he was there) They're real journalists and very professional.

Calling Fox an illegitimate news source is a bit extreme imo. The news is good, but a lot of Conservative talking heads take shelter there and I believe it poisons the well for Fox's credibility. Not that their voices shouldn't be heard.

About Glenn Beck: I'm kind of glad he was pulled. As far as I know his sponsors stopped supporting him for some reason I can't remember.

To me, he was hard to listen to. Particularly depressing.
His time slot was replaced with "The Five", a panel of five discussing current events. It's quite good.

Likewise Alan Colmes and Michael Moore could shut the hell up and I'd be good.

Oh. And Bill Maher or however the fuck you spell his name. I don't care whether or not you like Sarah Palin and her family what he did was fucking immature, hateful and in bad taste. That man's a horrible comedian I don't know how anyone finds that funny.
