Future Cars In Demand - China
Well, as i'm sure most know, China is modernizing at break-neck speed, on route to becming a new world superpower. And for any superpower to be successful, you need transportation. More people in China are demanding motor vehicles as time passes, and considering they account for over 1/7 th of the worlds population, their demand would have a significant market influence.
So.. what kind of vehicle do most Chinese consumers prefer? Japanese? European? American? A domestic Chinese model?
The answer may surprise you.

They don't have a navy or air force to be a superpower.
They just got one carrier and its an antic from Russia.

Re: Future Cars In Demand - China
That is a stereotypical false belief.
If you believe we live in a military world, in the sense that you need a Military above all else, is just sad.
IMO you don't even need a military to be a superpower. You can do it many other ways.. like Economically (and china's got US there)
Why do you need a major military anyways? Are you going to become an International bully and start randomly invading people (like the US?). Or start WW3?
Anyways... that point is a little off topic.
Superpower or not, demand for motor vehicles has spiked there in recent years.

I liked what I said in the chatbox, so ill re-post it here:
There doesn't have to be war all the time. If most countries in the world cut the military, and redirected investments into education and etc.. we would be in an golden age, rather than living in tension and fear; but no we are too busy blowing each other up. Humanity is backwards sometimes..

Re: Future Cars In Demand - China
I know in China having a Buick is like having a Rolls Royce.
Military is important so you can't be overrun. If the United States had no military per say, any superpower say Russia or China for that matter who wanted it for their economy could take this place over in a second.
Who would be there to stop them? The EU? Nowhere near the manpower or a large enough military.
No the best bet would be Russia and China having a war between themselves for us and that wouldn't get US anywhere.
If Russia for example needed it, they have a reported 21,000,000 strong army that could be supported, which tops the US and China combined.
No, military is important. Essential.
"Conflict is inevitable, so it is imperative that we study it."
The goal is to ride the line balancing military and civilian expenditures and what is necessary at that time.

Re: Future Cars In Demand - China
I'd rather not gt further off topic, so i'll end it with this point:
Some of the best countries in the world (as ranked overall), with best living quality etc, are ones that avoid war, or stay neutral.
I never said NO military; I said a non-superpower sized military. I never said eliminate the military; I side cut it and redirect funds. Why are nation like Switzerland, Sweden, and Norway doing so well? Because they are NEUTRAL. We should learn a lesson from that.
Besides, the last time the US used its military as a means of DEFENSE, or a primary necessity of our own protection, was WW2, and something of that scale will never happen again (or the world will end). EVERY use of the US military after that was not because we were in danger at all, but other interests that did not require violence.
If you want to respond to this, rather than the OP, quote the text, and take it to the "All bout America" thread.

I did, but then I figured: "Screw this, it's not going to solve anything, let bygones be bygones."
And all that jazz. Really don't feel like doing that debate.
