Re: Uh..... WTF American Congress?
I dont think this bill will happen. It doesnt make sense why it would, because if a damn company doesnt release demos for their games, then we wont want to buy the games cuz we dont know if they are "our cup of tea." people who buy games, record them, and post them on youtube basically help companies get more profit if people like the game. :/ i really dont know.

I think he is misinterpreting the bill. I think "his version" of the bill, that he is interpreting, will never pass. No way it ever will. However, if he is exagerating and only some of what he said is true, then yeah it might pass (but not the version he is describing).

I see nothing really gaming related except for the bolded.
Also I think this bill is not really aimed at the video game industry too. It more of being aimed at the motion picture stuff.

This is what happens when you have a government based solely on money.
Companies complain about losing money from the billions that they already have, and the government listens.

If this is all true, then it is unconstitutional to pass the bill, and that is the exact opposite of what the Congress was built upon.

What else do you base a Government on?
And also, anything that a company or corporation does involves millions of dollars, so that money means something to them.
In any case, this sounds like a response to streaming movies and media illegally over the internet, which really isn't good since it hurts business. You should have to pay to see that stuff over the internet.
I agree with Erik in that he's exaggerating certain aspects of it to provoke anger. For example, news outlets saying something is "Government" in origin instead of "Private".
If it's "Government" run, the public is overwhelmingly against it since it sounds scary. I think he's blowing it a bit out of proportion. Anyone looking into things like this should cite multiple sources for consistency.
I'm trying to avoid reality as much as possible right now. When I hear something about Congress I'm expecting something to be curbed about our failing economy, but all they ever talk about is damn taxes. They should be talking about curbing massive spending which goes to nothing.

>Have one of the highest if not highest corporate tax in world
>Many companies leaving for Eastern and Asian countries to make more money
And you are trying to argue that we care too much about the corporation. We should probably start caring more about money considering how it's thrown around these days.
Also, I don't think that a gaming portion will pass mainly because gaming companies want to see people make things like Machinima to publicize the game. I mean honestly, how many copies of GTA IV do you think we've sold simply because of our site and youtube videos? Then look at Black Ops. It makes uploading videos from console easier than ever. It's obvious that even the biggest companies like Activision don't want this.

Taking the whole jump cutting discussion from the other thread, that video is a good example of what it SHOULD be like on YouTube.

Re: Uh..... WTF American Congress?
how this should work if they have to have it is when you post up a video of a game you have to tag the game or the copyright holders in the video and then the video is sent to the copyright holders and they have the power to take down the video whenever they want.

LOL @ the uproar this has caused.
When else do you see people up in arms about "ARBITRARY BILL #48242747"?
o_O Though you put forth respectable arguments, this shouldn't even be a topic. Supreme Court members wipe their asses with bills like this.
