Actually many RPG's do have the enemy and boss life on the HUD...

Most JRPGs do not. Hence the need for a "Scan" power/ability in most.

It should also be noted that I never lost a party member the entire fight, because I ran out of defibs when fighting Ven, and tried hard to keep everyone alive
