It's actually pretty neat. Just think of how many other monkey's out there do that. But I don't think I would like to be that ape, being stared at all the time..

None, probably. As I said, it probably learned to walk by imitating people. Wild monkey don't hang around people enough to start imitating them, so a Zoo is the only place I can imagine this ever happening in.

Not true, do you not know how many monkeys are out there? And you have those really tiny monkeys and they walk on their hind legs, but no one ever gives them credit? It's when the big silver backs do it they all freak out? Right?

Just saying, you never know what is out there... The world is too big for everyone to know everything that happens. Only in these smaller enclosed environments are you able to keep track of life. Not saying that the silver back did not try and learn it's stuff from imitation, but it's somethings that just happen. Maybe when it was born something was wrong with it's front legs, and it just decided to walk on it's hinds? .. So many possibilities..

hohoho another creature displaying bipedal properties!!!!!! But in all seriousness this is really cool and I would like to see this develop further. We already have witnessed an elephant that can paint and mockingbirds are known to construct tools to help them hunt with.

If there's an entire species of monkeys that walk on two legs, then there's nothing special with one of them walking on two legs. Gorillas walk hands on ground, that's why this one is so "special".

There COULD be a million monkeys who walk on two legs, but then again, there could be 10 million monkeys who walk sideways on one hand and one leg. Without any proof it doesn't change anything.

If it learnt by imitating people then most likely the other gorillas in the enclosure would be walking on their hind legs too. It probably either had something happen causing it to need to learn to walk on its hind legs or it just randomly decided to start doing it.
