Story From the Halo 3 Universe

I like to pepper bits of my favorites into my story. Shaun of the Dead is my favorite zombie movie.

Part 5- Though I Walk Through the Valley in the Shadow of Death
Xelial helps Ted out of the wrecked pelican.
"Alright, pay up Ted. I told you we'd crash." Shaun says.
"You seem happy about this."
"I just have a feeling our hard times are almost over."
"That may be the most positive thing you've said this whole time."
"Yep, It'll all be over when those things kill us."
"Alright well, let's go look for a way out of this canyon."
"This place is huge. It'll take all day."
"That's why we split up. Xelial, see if there's anything down by the water. I'll check the canyon wall for caves or something. Shaun, go see if you can find a way past that wall."
"That wall?"
"Yes, that wall. There's always something behind a big wall."
"Are you sure that's not part of the canyon?"
"Shaun, it's made of metal. It's obviously not natural."
He starts toward the wall, mumbling under his breath. He reaches the wall, and looks around. He finds a button. He presses it a large portion of the wall sinks into the ground, revealing a massive swarm of infected.
"Oh, fuck me."
Ted searches the crates inside the base.
"Nothing."
"Help!" he hears in the distance.
He goes topside to investigate the source of the noise.
"Ted!" Shaun yells.
He runs up to the base and stops to catch his breath.
"Did you find a way into the wall?"
"Yeah."
"Was there anything in there?"
"Yeah."
"What was it?"
Shaun points behind him to the huddled mass of walking corpses.
"Oh, no."
Ted calls Xelial on the radio.
"Xel, meet us at the other base we're pinned down."
Xelial doesn't respond. The two hold off the infected. A green explosion shakes the ground, followed by a hail storm of plasma fire. A banshee wipes out the swarm in a matter of minutes. It lands and Xelial gets out.
"Where did you there that?" Ted asks.
"There are three along the water. I will guide you to them."
They cross the field and board the banshees.
"So where are we going to go?" Shaun says.
"Oh I have a place in mind..."

Part 6- Trapped in the Sand
Three banshees soar over the desert.
"So, why did we come here?" Shaun says.
"See that tower up there? I arranged for a pelican to pick us up on the top floor."
Two torpedoes come out of thin air and hit the right wing of Shaun's banshee. The raiders open fire from a hornet.
"These guys again." Ted says.
Ted turns to meet two more torpedoes. He crashes into the sand and gets out of the banshee. He radios is companions.
"Shaun are you alright?"
"Yeah."
"Xel?"
"I have sustained no injuries."
Ted observes the stone structures around him.
"I have a plan."
The hornet lands.
"Jackson, get somewhere high and keep an eye out for survivors. Junior, take the hornet and look for them."
Johnson steps onto the edge of a structure. Ted comes up behind him. He turns and tries to shoot Ted.
"Forget to load it?" Ted says.
He raises his weapon.
"No one has to die here. Just leave us alone, so we can get somewhere safe."
"No. You have to die."
The hornet comes up from behind Johnson. A red blast destroys it before it can shoot. Johnson turns to see Xelial holding a spartan laser. He turns back, pulling a magnum.
He pistol whips Ted and shoots him in the arm. Ted kneels, holding his arm. Johnson puts the pistol to his head. A single shot rings throughout the desert. Ted looks back at Shaun reloading his sniper rifle. Xelial radios his team.
"I have located a teleporter beneath the surface. It may take us to the tower."
"Great. Let's get the hell out of here." Shaun says.
"Almost there..."

Part 7- Last One Out, Hit the Lights
Ted steps from the receiving teleporter. The three find themselves faced with hundreds of infected. They start down the blue-lighted hall. They go through the door to a square spiral ramp around the tower. Shaun falls through a hole in the floor, onto the starting point of the ramp.
"Shaun, you alright?"
"Yeah. Give me my gun."
Xelial kicks the battle rifle down the hole as an infected comes up behind Shaun. He grabs it and puts it up the the zombie's open mouth and squeezes the trigger. They hold off the infected while Shaun catches up.
"I would have let them get you to buy some time." Shaun says.
"Thank me later."
The group makes a break for the end of the ramp. The pelican soars into view. Shaun and Xelial board the pelican, while Ted continues to hold the line. The pelican begins to take off and Ted jumps after it.
"Hey hey, wait!" Shaun yells toward the cockpit.
Ted grabs the hatch as an infected grabs his ankle. The rest fall over the edge attempting to reach him. Ted struggles as the zombies tries to pull itself up. Xelial dangles from the pelican by one arm, energy sword in hand. He slices the monster from its grip. It falls to the desert floor far below. Xelial pulls himself back up and Shaun assists Ted. The three watch the tower shrink out of view. Ted pulls the hand off his ankle and looks at it.
"You know what? I'm going to have this put on a plaque."
"After you pay up for that bet."
"Oh right."
The pelican lands in a fortified military outpost. Shaun counts the money.
"250, 300. Yep, its all here."
"Well, it's been fun." Ted says extending a hand.
Shaun goes to shake his hand but pulls back at the feel of necrotic flesh. Ted laughs, pulling the zombie's hand out of this sleeve.
"Man that's nasty. I can't believe you're keeping that thing."
"Spoils of war, my friend. Spoils of war."
