Story From the Halo 3 Universe

Hi I'm Timmy. I'm new here and eager to share ideas, so here is a 7 part story based on my upcoming Halo 3 Machinima Devoured By Death

Part 0-Prologue
During the Human-Covenant War there were many military programs searching for the "magic bullet" to win. Most programs experimented with artificial intelligence or genetic augmentation drugs, but very few experimented with biological weaponry. One of these few programs was Project Epsilon. They experimented with a virus discovered on Reach. During its discovery it was thought to cause death by killing brain cells, but after experimentation it was found to not kill but instead mutate the cells into its own. This mutation killed the old brain but created a new one in its place. Project Epsilon found it would be quicker to test the full effects of the virus on a live person rather than studying remains from Reach. That was a big mistake...

Part 1-Death On High
Jimmy let's out a deep sigh.
"Oh no, not this again," Ted said.
"What?"
"That sigh means you're going to complain about guard duty again."
"What are you taking about?"
"Last time I heard that sigh, we got into an hour long discussion about the need for guard duty."
"Wha-"
"And the same with the time the week before. And the one before that. And the-"
"Ok, I get it Ted"
"And the one before-"
"Hold on... I think I see someone."
"Real funny Jim."
"No really he just went behind that rock."
Ted looks through the scope of his battle rifle.
"I don't see any... Wait, I see him." he says as a man walks out from behind cover.
"What's wrong with him?"
"I don't know. Go find out."
"Why me?"
"I'm not arguing with you. Go."
Jimmy opens the gate and steps outside the base.
The man sees him and shambles toward him.
"Hey, are you alright?"
The man continues to walk toward Jimmy with cold dead eyes.
"Ok, that's far enough. Just stop right there"
Jimmy looks at the large wound on the man's arm.
"I said stop."
He raises his battle rifle.
"STOP."
He fires a burst into the man's chest. The man gives no pause in his advance. He empties the rest of his clip into the man's chest. Jimmy stands paralyzed with fear as the beast grabs a hold of him and takes a bite out of his neck. Ted unleashes a burst into the monster's head and rushes down to help Jimmy. He kneels down to check Jimmy's pulse. Ted stands and lets out a sigh.
"Guess I better report this."
He turns to walk away as Jimmy stands behind him. He turns back around to see Jimmy standing with the same eyes as his attacker.
"Jimmy?"
Jimmy begins to shamble towards him. He raises his gun to Jimmy's head and releases another burst.

Ted tries the long range radio but can't get a signal. He walks to the next room. An Elite rises from behind a mongoose.
"Hey Xelial, did you mess with the radio?" Ted said.
"No. Why do you ask Theodore?"
"I told you not to call me Theodore, Xel 'Lialdumee"
Xelial glares at Ted.
"I can't get a signal on the radio. I need you to see what's wrong with it."
"Fine."
They walk back to the radio. Xelial tinkers with the radio until it picks up a signal from a pilot.
"Hello. Is anyone alive out there? I have a hornet and can pick up survivors."
"H-Hello?" said Ted.
"Oh hey hey! Well I'll be. There's still people out there!"
"What's going on?"
"What's going...Son have been asleep for the past month? I'll tell you later. Just give me your location and I'll come give you a lift."
"We're stationed at High Ground Outpost 26."
"Alright ETA in 10 minutes. Go out towards the lake. I'll pick you up there."
Ted and Xelial look at each other and set out towards the lake. As they turn the corner they stop to find a dozen of the monsters wandering around the area.
"Oh shit." Ted said as he stared into the crowd.
"By the gods."
"Just shoot them in the head it seems to work out."
Xelial nods.
"Ready? Charge!"
The two fire upon the crowd and make their way to the beach. They hold off the beasts until they hear the hornet flying overhead. It unleashes two torpedoes and a barrage of bullets.
"Get in! Get in! Now!" the pilot shouts over the gunfire. The two board the hornet as it takes off.
"That was a close one huh?" the pilot says excitedly.
"Yeah...sure"
The pilot coughs loudly.
"Are you alright?" Ted said.
"Yeah. I might need some medical attention, but it can wait until we land."
He grabs his arm.
"Man those fuckers can bite..."

Part 2-When Last We Met
Ted wakes up to see Xelial standing over him.
"You're awake." Xelial said.
"What happened?"
"The hornet crashed."
"Oh yeah."
Ted stands up on the sand and looks out at the sea.
"Where are we?" he said.
"I cannot say."
"Well then let's check the place out."
They walk through the crumbled stone arches into an industrial plant. They walk into the main building and walk behind a green container. Once they come out from behind the container a sniper rifle shot flies before Ted's face. The two immediately take cover behind the container.
"Stay where you are or the next round will put a hole in your visor."
Xelial poked his head out from cover.
"The same goes for you split-jaw."
Xelial growls. Ted puts a hand on his shoulder as if to hold him back from charging at the figure.
"We're not here to cause any trouble. We're just looking for supplies."
"Come on out."
They come out from cover and are approached by the figure clad in brown armor.
"What is this place?" Ted asks.
"Last Resort Co. power plant."
"What's your rank?"
"Huh? Oh, I'm not in the service."
"Then how did you get that armor?"
"Well, there we some soldiers here earlier. They cleared out...most of the place. Look, he was dead he wasn't using it."
"I'm just going to pretend I didn't hear that."
"So you two got names?"
"I'm Private Ted Mercer. And split-jaw over here is Xelial."
Xelial glares at them.
"You got any weapons here?"
"There's some extras I'm not using on that catwalk up there."
Ted and Xelial go up to that catwalk. Xelial is delighted to find an energy sword and battle rifle. Ted grabs the only two weapons left: a battle rifle and a magnum. They walk back down to the figure.
"By the way, I'm Shaun." he says.
"Alright, Shaun, you said there were soldiers here right?"
"That's right."
"Ok, Xelial, go see if there are any vehicles left behind. Shaun, you and I are going to prep the supplies for transport."
"You're taking my supplies?"
"You're coming with us aren't you?"
"Why would I go with you?"
"Look, you have two choices: If you want to die, you're welcome to spend the rest of your life in here; but if you want to live you'll stick with us."
"Fine."
"Alright, Xel, see if you can find a vehicle."
Xelial leaves. Shaun and Ted start packing supplies. Ten minutes later Ted gets a call on his helmet radio.
"I have found transport." says Xelial.
"Great. Where?"
"The is a warthog on the beach to the north of where we awoke."
"Alright on our way. ETA in six minutes."
"Was that the alien?" Shaun asked.
"Yeah. He found a hog let's go."
The two step outside to find the building surrounded. Ted calls Xelial on the radio.
"Cancel that ETA, Xelial. We've got contacts over here."
"I am coming to your aid."
Ted grabs a second magnum lying by a pillar
"Shoot them in the head. It's the only way to kill them." Shaun says.
The two open fire on the crowd as the infected slowly close in on them.
"I'm out." Ted says.
"Me too."
As the mob moves closer, a growing sound is heard from beyond the windmill. Out of the blue, a warthog flies into the horde.
"Get in." Xelial says from the driver's seat.
Ted jumps mans the turret and Shaun hops into the passenger seat. The three drive back out to the beach and into the mountains. Through the scope of his sniper rifle a person sees the warthog speeding away from the site. He calls some one on his helmet radio.
"Hey boss. We got some live ones out here."
"How many?"
"I'm counting three."
"Where are they heading?"
"Looks like they're going toward the cliffs."
"Perfect..."

Part 3- Stand and Deliver
A warthog drives out from a canyon and into an abandoned military outpost on a cliff.
"Where is everyone?" Ted asks
"Perhaps they evacuated." says Xelial
"I don't think so. Their stuff is still here. Those things probably got them all." Shaun says
"Well, they would still be here. So then, what happened the everyone?"
The group ponders on it until Ted breaks the silence.
"Alright, let's split up and look for more supplies."
"We got enough in here to last us a week."
"Yeah, but we don't know how long we'll be out here. We need to gather everything we can."
The three go their separate ways in search of supplies. Xelial rounds a corner and comes across a pile of corpses.
"Well it seems I have found the missing soldiers."
He turns around and at the same moment a person in dark gray armor hits him over the head with a large hammer. He wakes up inside one of the two bases in the outpost, surrounded by four men clad in the same color.
"Hey, Johnson, he's awake." one of them says.
"About time. You gave him a good whack. Didn't you Sampson?"
"Hell yeah."
Johnson approaches Xelial holding a shotgun. Xelial eyes his weapons in the corner. Shaun spots him through the scope of his sniper rifle and calls Ted on the radio.
"I found him. He got his ass kidnapped."
"Where?"
"The base near the canyon."
"I got the hog. I'm coming around. Do you know how to work the turret?"
Johnson puts his shotgun up to Xelial's face
"Look, I'm not going to bullshit you, hunchback. You're not coming out of this alive."
"Well, I appreciate your honesty."
"Just give us the info we need and we'll make this quick. And if you're going to make this difficult we'll just have Jackson, here, cut something off and we can try again."
Jackson pulls the knife from its holster in his breastplate and displays it.
With a blast of its horn the warthog bursts into the base. The four take cover as Shaun releases a barrage of rounds from the turret. Ted gets out to help Xelial. Suddenly the barrage stops.
"Shit it's jammed!" Shaun yells.
"Well, unjam it."
Sampson comes out from cover and charges in with his hammer. Xelial jumps up and grabs his sword, running him through in the process. He grabs his battle rifle as Shaun continues his assault. Xelial hops in the driver seat and Ted jumps in the passenger. They escape the base. The raiders come out from cover.
"God damn it. Jackson go to the roof and keep track of them. Junior get the tank." Johnson says.
The warthog pauses in the middle of the field.
"Where are we going to go? They probably have the canyon blocked off and everywhere else is just cliffs." Shaun says.
"I think there might be something in the other...What the hell is that?" Ted says as a large purple machine lowly hovers toward them.
"It is a wraith. A Sangheilian version of your scorpion tank." Xelial says.
The wraith fires a massive ball of plasma into the air that curves toward the warthog. Xelial takes off and barely evades the blast.
"We can't outrun this thing forever." Shaun says over the sound of another near blast.
"Maybe we don't have to. I found a door with a green light behind it. It might be a teleporter. It's in the other base."
Johnson leaves the wraith and runs up a small hill overlooking the base. The warthog crashes into the base as he picks up a rocket launcher.
"Oh shit! Get out! Get out!" Shaun yells from the turret.
Johnson fires a rocket. The three take cover as the warthog explodes. Johnson calls Jackson.
"Once the fire dies down, go see what you can salvage. And if there are any bodies left add them to the pile."
Ted activates a switch.
"This should do it."
The door opens to reveal a teleporter and the three run into it. The raiders run in.
"Where are the bodies? Where are their weapons?" Johnson says.
He spots the activated switch.
"Oh no...God damn it! I want those bastards dead! I want two heads on a platter and the alien's on a wall mount! I want every bone broken, every finger and toe cut off!" he yells in a fit of rage.
"Boss, they went down there with the infected. They'll never survive down there." Junior says.
"I don't care. You're going down there. I don't want any chances that they'll escape. They're going to burn..."

Part 4- Birds Nest
The group comes out of the teleporter's receiving end. They walk out of the open container and into a complex. They walk out onto a road that seems to go around the complex. Ted looks up at the cliffs above.
"I guess this is another part of the base."
Shaun spots a pelican on a platform, a stone's throw from the cliff that holds up the road.
"Hey look over there."
They jump up and down screaming at the top of their lungs.
"There's no one over there." Ted says.
The other two stop.
"We need to find a door that leads over there. Let's split up." Ted says
Walking through the inner part of the complex, Ted hears what seems to be sobbing. He goes to investigate the noise. He comes to see a man sitting there mumbling to himself.
"Hello?" Ted says.
His head shoots up his gaze fixed on Ted. He slowly stands up grabbing the knife at his side.
"I want to help you." he says, looking at Ted.
Ted starts to back up as the man slowly advances. He comes out onto the road with the man still advancing. As the man gets close, a round blasts through his head. Ted looks to see Shaun with his sniper rifle. They hear sounds coming from further down the road. They find a horde of infected rounding the corner. They start running. Ted radios Xelial.
"Xel, meet us on the open part of the track."
They all meet up with the pelican in sight. From the pelican they can hear yelling.
"Hey, over here! Hey, guys!" the person near the pelican says.
"Hey! Do you know how to fly that thing?" Ted asks.
"Yeah, I just need to make a few quick repairs. It'll only take about eight minutes."
"Great, because we got a mob of undead cannibals on their way, so take your time." says Shaun.
The infected round the corner on both sides and the three open fire.
"Alright, it's all good." the pilot says.
The pelican lifts off and turns around to let the group into the back. It takes off.
"Just to let you know, I'm pretty confidant in my work, but I don't know how long this bird is going to stay in one piece..."
