Will 2012 be the end of the world?

so most of us have heard the rumors that the mayan calender ends on 12/21/12,
the question is do you believe it.


I think that if it is true then there will be massive earthquakes, or global warming will melt the ice caps and the earth will flood

Mayans said the world will end in 2012 but, they also said they would live forever. They even said that the world will be post-apocalyptic at 2000. Not so true now is it? Humans can survive an ice age as well... throw a bunch a gingers and fire crotches in a pile and use them to heat the rest of the remaining humans.

More specifically December 21, 2012 or whenever it is does not mark the end of the world or days , just the start of a new cycle of the mayan calendar this does not mean everything will end it is more like a new beggining. Lets just say hypathetically it would end I would go with hippies randomly attacking people it makes the most sense.

It's not a rumor that the Mayan calendar will end in 2012, its a fact, that doesn't mean its the end of the world.

I see enough of this stupid shit on the T.V and in society, lets just let this topic die.

Global Nuclear War

All it takes is some country (ex. North Korea, Iran, etc..) to get a little to cocky and launch a nuke at another, setting of a chain reaction that destroys everything.

Ahh global warming. Have you seen the maps on where the flooding will lead if the ice caps melt? It's not that much actually. If anything I wouldn't worry about the entire planet flooding, it won't happen, I would worry about nuclear issues, over population, and some random asteroid hitting the either. (It happens more than you think.) We can fix and help the three issues unlike global warming. Carbon Emissions don't really change anything, many scientists are saying that it is just a warming period. However, there is the fact of the ozone layer being destroyed which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with global warming, it's just certain things destroying the O3 (Ozone). That would cause us to fry though...

So in summary, I would say overpopulation, nuclear threats, random asteroid strikes, or the ozone layer being destroyed.

And if that doesn't kill us, a nice super volcano will in 500 years.

I think I read somewhere that if every bit of ice melted on Earth, the Ocean levels will rise about 130-150 feet from where they are now, in which isn't enough to engulf all of the Earth's landmass. Will it kill many people? YES. Will it lead to our extinction? NO. Rising ocean levels don't worry me too much. It's the other side effects of the warming, such as drought and desertification, that are worse. More dry deserts mean less fertile farm land, less farm land means less food, and less food means starvation. Human population is over 7 billion and growing, while food supply is shrinking...

However, I think what Meatshield said (Nuclear threats) will destroy us before global warming does. Or maybe a nuclear war will start because of the warming (shorter food supply). Or just an asteroid hitting the planet. The possibilities are endless... (zombie invasion maybe?)
