did you read the rest, the money would be made in micro transactions. Maps, limited edition armor and weapons.

but still, it seems sorta odd of a big name like Bungie to even think of doing something like that..

well i think thats why they would do it, like a small time game people would play the free content. With something like Halo people are always going to want more, releasing armor to the first 1000 people who buy it would almost guarantee that collector freaks would buy it quick and not think about it, and if the maps came with achievements it would be a sure thing for the achievements whores buying it.

Yeah, when you put it like that, it seems like a good idea.

Well for me I could see Bungie giving away free things but, M$? It seems like a "reach." Even with the micro transactions the thought of Micro$oft not completely whoring off a game to get the most money doesn't even cross Bill's mind. I really don't care for Halo all too much anymore but, a free game would be pretty nice.
We are in a recession you know. Even big companies like M$ need money. I mean, how are they going to pay for Bill's new Lambo?
