Day 4: Heavy Metal pt. 1
Kyle stumbled down Star Junction, desperately gasping for breath. One minute his squad had been in front of him, only to suddenly evaporate into nothing. All the doors to the once prosperous stores were locked and their sign's words were distorted and unclear. The whole scene was extremely surreal if it could even be called that. Marlowe walked over to the double glass doors of the Cluckin Bell, placed his hands on the handle, and pulled. When the door didn't budge, Marlowe abandoned any hopes of entering the store and turned around. Kyle then heard a sound that made the hair on his neck snap to attention. It was the sound of something tapping on glass. The most unnerving fact was that it had come from directly behind him. Wheeling around Marlowe came face to face with a truly horrible sight.
A body bag lay slumped up against the opposite side of the entrance doors. Kyle felt a scream almost escape is mouth but held it back, however he couldn't stop the cold sweat that broke out on his face. He turned around and began to run frantically but was stopped in his tracks by a wave of fear; the second sound he had just heard was unmistakable. Looking down at his feet, Kyle realized what he thought he had heard was true as glass shards tumbled and fell around his boots. Marlowe knew what was probably waiting behind him but turned around anyway. He instantly wished he didn't. The body bag was standing vertically with the zipper side facing him, through a small hole towards the top of it, Kyle could just make out a bloodshot eye staring at him from inside the plastic coffin.
"kyle........" spoke the voice from inside the bag.
"Kyle........." it repeated, this time lurching forward closer to him.
"KYLE!!!!!" The body bag began to snap violently back and forth, becoming a blur as it did. By now the stress and fear was to much for Marlowe as he felt himself passout.
When Kyle opened his eyes again he didn't see the nightmare that had just plagued him, but instead Hammond leaning over him saying his name.
"Yo Marlowe....come on wake up. The mechanics just got the last Maverick patched up and ready to go. We're about to start evacing the first Civies to the mainland, and guess what?"
"Please dont tell me what I think you're gonna." Replied Kyle groggily.
"Well recent studies have shown that zombies or whatever the fuck they are, roaming the streets does in fact cause a shortage of Police pilots coming to work or living as a matter of fact." Announced Hammond sarcastically.
"So in other words the LCPD wants me to fly one of the Mavericks.......right?
"Unfortunately yes. So if I were you I'd get to the roof right now, the rest of the Mavericks were landed down at the Helitours strip and are headed here now."
Marlowe slowly got up and followed Hammond to the stairs leading to the helipad.
