Just because it started something doesn't make it the best. In fact the first one is almost always flawed no matter what we're talking about (games, movies, books, comics, whatever) and the sequels tend to improve those things and become better than the first one...

Untill they reach that point where they decide to flip the table over and start from scratch again and ruin the game completely.

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii and Pistol Varient Controler! Very Happy

Resident evil 1 remake and original = Creepy epicness, fuck with it I KILL YOU! lol

Resident evil 2 = Great ballance beetween survival and action, terrific game, 5 S.T.A.R.S Wink

Resident evil 3 = A lot of action but FANTASTIC

Resident evil CVX = HORRIBLE graphics compared to re 2 and 3, but GREAT game over all.

Resident evil 4 = Great but a descent into action Sad

NO FUCKING ZOMBIES TOO! There cool but I hate the weapons and the talking, just bite me for christ sakes.

Resident evil 5 = meh it was good

So, conclusion?

RE 1, 2, 3, and CVX Twisted Evil
